Macsween’s Haggis Lasagne

Mharsanta’s twist on a classic lasagne!

Ingredients:

· 500g MacSween’s Haggis

· 500g beef mince

· Lasagne sheets

· Medium onion finely chopped

· Tinned tomatoes, basil

· Olive Oil

· Some bay leaves for flavour

· Splash cooking red wine

· 500g mozzarella cheese

· Homemade white sauce – everyone has their own special way of making this

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 180C.

  • Make your mince meat sauce with the haggis by heating the oil in a hot pan and soften the onion for 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Add the beef and cook until brown, stir in the wine and cook until the alcohol evaporates.

  • Coarsely chop the haggis and add to the mince. Finally add your homemade tomato basil sauce and stir until combined. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.

  • Spread a 5-10mm layer of bechamel sauce in an oven proof dish and cover with lasagne sheets.

  • Spread a layer of meat sauce on lasagne, then another layer of bechamel and mozzarella cheese followed by more lasagne sheets. Repeat until the dish is loaded. The top layer of lasagne should be covered with layer of bechamel and mozzarella cheese.

  • Bake covered by foil for 45-55 min after that take off the foil and cook next 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and lasagne is soft.

Serve and enjoy!
